Metaldehyde pellets have been banned in Great Britain since 2022 and we do not sell them. The slug killer in this range uses ferric phosphate, which is approved for garden use. Follow the application rate on the label - scattering more than directed is both wasteful and against the label - and keep pets off freshly treated ground.

Yes, and it is usually the better first step. Copper barrier tape around pots and raised beds, and a reusable poison-free trap, both work without an active substance. Diatomaceous earth works by physical action as a barrier, but only while it is dry - it stops working after rain or watering and needs reapplying, which makes it better suited to greenhouses and covered beds than open ground.

Scoot is a scent-based deterrent that works on a fox's territorial behaviour and causes no harm to the animal. It needs reapplying after rain and repeating over several weeks - foxes are persistent, and one application rarely changes a route they have used for months. Remove what is drawing them in as well: accessible bins, fallen fruit, pet food left outdoors, and gaps under sheds and decking.

Treat it as an extra layer rather than the main measure. Use it alongside the things that do the work - proofing gaps, removing food sources, and trapping or baiting where appropriate - rather than in place of them.

It fits along the top of walls, fences and gates to discourage climbing. It is an intruder deterrent rather than a pest control product, though it also discourages cats from using a wall as a route. Fit it out of reach of children, and check whether a boundary is shared before fixing anything to it.
