Snap and electronic traps kill without any active substance, and live-catch traps don't kill at all. Proofing products such as wire wool, door sweeps and air brick covers work purely as a physical barrier, and our attractant gels are lures rather than rodenticides. To avoid poison altogether, start with proofing to close the entry points, then trapping to clear whatever is already inside.

Trapping clears what is already inside; it doesn't stop new mice getting in. Seal the entry points - a mouse gets through a gap of around 5mm, roughly a pencil's width - using wire wool, sealant, door sweeps and air brick covers. Then remove what drew them: food in airtight containers, bins closed, spillages cleared. Leave a trap or two set afterwards so you catch repeat activity early rather than discovering it as droppings.
