IGR Insecticide Sprays

An IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) doesn’t usually “kill on contact” like a knock-down spray. Instead, it disrupts the insect life cycle, stopping immature insects from developing properly and helping to prevent breeding and re-infestation. It’s best thought of as a population control tool rather than an instant cure.

IGR sprays are most useful when you’re dealing with repeat activity or pests that have multiple life stages. For best results, many people pair an IGR with:

• a fast knock-down spray for visible insects right now, and/or
• a residual spray to treat pathways and hiding areas over time

That way you’re tackling the problem now and also reducing the chance of the next generation.

Apply IGR to the places insects hide, breed, and travel, focusing on targeted areas rather than open air:

• Skirting boards, corners, and cracks/crevices
• Under/behind appliances, under sinks, inside cupboard gaps
• Around likely harbourages and “activity hotspots” you’ve identified

Because IGRs work on development, results are typically gradual, so consistent placement (and following the label directions) matters.
