Bird Deterrent Spikes

Bird deterrent spikes are designed to discourage birds from landing or roosting without injuring them when installed correctly. They make the surface uncomfortable to perch on, helping reduce nuisance activity on ledges, sills, signs and rooflines. For best results, install securely and ensure the spikes cover the full landing area so birds can’t find a comfortable gap.

Install spikes on the exact places birds are landing or roosting, such as window sills, ledges, signs, beams, parapets and roof edges. Focus on flat perching points and ensure there are no “landing gaps” between sections. Clean the area first so fixings adhere properly, and fit spikes securely according to the product instructions.

Spikes are most effective for common nuisance birds such as pigeons and gulls (and other larger perching birds). Effectiveness depends on coverage and placement—if birds can find an uncovered section, they may continue to land. Measure your ledge or sill and choose enough spike length to fully protect the perching area.

Wild birds, their nests and eggs are protected in the UK, so avoid disturbing active nests and don’t fit deterrents in a way that could trap or injure birds.
